It’s my last post in this year. It has a special meaning for me because it’s a 50th post written in 2019. I’m so pleased with this fact. It’s time for a summary of the past year and plans for the upcoming year. And it won’t be only about travel.
As you know I’ve started running the travel blog since March 2019. I try to describe on an ongoing basis all my current travels and add relations from my past. Unfortunately, it’s sometimes time-consuming. The blog is bilingual and I spend a lot of time at English posts. Additionally, I’m a person who has a calendar full filled. Except for full-time job I spend a lot of time meeting with my friends and following my new hobby.
This year passed so fast – I don’t know when. So much has happened in 2019. I can truly say that it was successful year, full of positive emotions. And what has happened? You can read below.
Our first anniversary
It the success! We survived! I’m joking of course. It was an amazing year in a new role – the wife’s role. We’ve known each other for 9 years and I didn’t expect that the wedding changes something between us. But the truth is that it changed a lot. I can’t describe this, because I feel it. Every day I’m so happy that I have my soulmate and the best live and travel companion close to me.
Darling, I wish us many happy years together. I love you so much. Thank you for all those things you did for me.
The wedding reception of our friends and being the maid of honor
I know how important is the role of the maid of honor. I’m so happy that I was chosen and I could take part in the most important day of our friends’ life. I hope I worthily acted my role, not only during the hen party but particularly during the wedding reception.
The wedding was in July. The beautiful happy couple vowed to love, faith and trust. I was so touched.
I wish all the best to a happy marriage once again. Kaja, a lot of patience to Kamil!
At the beginning of the year I joined to analytics team in a bank. New workplace, new workmates, new tasks, new challenges. Every change carries the unknown. As often happens at the beginning I had a lot of doubts. So quickly it came out, that I have so friendly and kind workmates. I’m so happy that I met many great people.
Travels always remain my greatest passion, but having only 26 of leave days, unfortunately, I can’t travel all year round. When I’ve organized the hen party to my friend, we decided to take wife-to-be to pole dance classes. We didn’t know how it will look like, but finally, it was the best idea. We had a great time. One week later I’ve started regular pole dance classes. Almost six months later I see big progress. Additionally, I joined to next level group. I’m so excited.
Except for pole dance classes, I regularly practice acrobatics. With husband hesitated between acrobatics and dance classes, but after all, we finished learning how to do handsprings, forward rolls, backflips, headstands, and handstands. When I was young, I couldn’t do all these magical tricks. I hope now I will learn.
Running the travel blog
I’ve started traveling 3 years ago, spending all my leave days for travel. A lot of people asked me why I don’t run a travel blog. Sincerely, I shrugged my arms, because I didn’t have a positive attitude to this idea.
Someday I’ve decided to describe one of my journeys to Israel. But in English. It was for me, and it’s still the best method to practice English. I don’t speak English every day, so I wanted to force myself to practice it.
In the beginning, the blog was only in English. Someday my sister asked me why I don’t write posts in Polish. And I started running a bilingual travel blog. I hope it was worth it. Do you like it?
My travel blog has almost ten months. And I’m pleased with that fact because it has special meaning for me. Describing all of those travels, I feel like I come back to all those magical places and the best moments in my life.
Travels in 2019
It’s time to summarize all of my travels in 2019. As I mentioned earlier, I have only 26 of leave days a year, and I spend all of them on journeys. In 2019 it was 5 small and big trips. All of them were magical and full of new experiences and memories.
New Year’s Eve in Jordan
Jordan together with Cuba, and Vietnam, is one of my 3 top favorite countries. I hadn’t been thinking of Jordan as a travel destination until my husband’s colleague told us how great had she spent time there. I have to admit I thought it was a dangerous country but to be honest, I felt there safer then is some parts of Europe!
It was our first New Year’s Eve abroad. We thought it’s gonna be like in Poland. The countdown, fireworks and party nightlong. It turned out that according to the Islamic calendar the year starts at a different date so it was a regular day for Jordanians. It was something magical on that day though. We’ve decided to go to have some tea and shisha and frankly speaking that was the best way I’ve entered the new year.

B-day in Dubai
This is where I’ve spent my “another 18th birthday” 😉 During 24h stopover we decided to hit the city instead of wasting our time at the airport. As you know Dubai is the place where everything is the biggest, the widest and the most expensive. Artificial islands no longer surprise after you see a ski slope in a mall.
While visiting Dubai it’s impossible to not spot the tallest building in the earth – Burj Khalifa. It’s 828 m, tall. My B-Day gift was reaching 124 floor. It was extremely exciting – not every day you have an opportunity to visit a place that is on Guinness World Records. More about my reflections about Dubai and the world’s tallest building you can read here: http://addicted2travels.com/category/united-arab-emirates/
The paradisal Philippines
The Philippines is a place a lot of people dream of. The first word which connotes with is a heaven on earth. Pictures from the Philippines show pristine paradisal beaches with palm trees, hidden glaucous lagoons, outstanding coral reefs. In one word, it is a paradise for beach and swimming lovers. There is no law against that everyone dream of travel there – this place is a real heaven on earth.
It is unbelievable that the Philippines consists of about 7 641 islands. Travel around the Philippines is a little complicated and time-consuming. It wasn’t easy to visit the whole country for 2 weeks. We decided to travel to Puerto Princesa and Bohol and its surrounded islets. The Philippines are known for hopping island, doesn’t it?

I didn’t want to visit Singapore, but finally, I regret that I spend there for only 2 days. It’s a place where I can live. I hope someday I will come back to Singapore to see once again magical Gardens by The Bay.

Did you know that pomegranate is a national symbol of Armenia? I’ve tried pomegranate wine and frankly, it was so delicious.
Armenia was the first country that accepted the Catholic faith. Therefore, in the large part of interesting places you can find, churches, monasteries, and temples. For Armenian people, faith has large importance.
Also, for history lovers, there are many places worth to visit. For example, through Armenia goes a Silk Road. It was the most important ancient network of trade routes which connected the East and West.
In addition, for nature lovers, Armenia offers amazing and unforgettable views during the whole journey around the country.
If you want to discover this amazing country, I’ve prepared a travel plan around Armenia: http://addicted2travels.com/category/armenia/
Surprise in Hamburg and Heide Park
We went to Hamburg to make a B-Day surprise to Kaja’s older sister. I hope she enjoyed this time because I did. I love making surprises.
We visited Heide Park and The Wadden Sea round our trip to Hamburg. When I was in high school I was in the amusement park, but a lot changed. As well as my level of tolerance of adrenaline.
The Wadden Sea I’ve seen the first time and it made a huge impression on me. It’s not a sea as its name tells, but it is like a body of water. This area is really interesting, because it is above water level at low tide and underwater at high tide. When we were there, a large part of the area was dry – amazing view.
Reaching the top of Mount Korab, Macedonia
The last country we’ve visited in 2019 was Macedonia. It was our fourth journey to the Balkans. It’s hard to decide which country was the most interesting because each one offers a lot of attractions and places worth to visit.
Being in Macedonia we’ve reached the highest peak of the eponymous mountain range of two countries, Macedonia and Albania. 5 hours of climbing, and 2 hours of climbing down with amazing and breathtaking views. It wasn’t easy to reach the top, but spending time among mountains and nature was absolutely worth it.

My travel plans for 2020
Our friends ask us, how it is possible to plan travels for the next year when they don’t know what they are going to do next weekend. It’s really simple. When a cheap flight ticket’s offer appears, there is no time to wait. We establish the date, we check if it doesn’t interfere with other plans of our work or family. If not, we buy tickets and we are looking forward to the trip.
It’s our travel plan below for 2020. And you? What is on your travel bucket list for 2020?
Anniversary surprise in Rome
My parents had a 40th wedding anniversary. For this reason, my sisters and I decided to buy them a special gift. We’ve bought flight tickets to Rome. My parents have never traveled alone, so we’ve bought tickets for ourselves as well. We are going to Rome without husbands and children, only our parents and their daughters.
They liked their gift. My ma wanted to come back someday to Rome, but dad has never been there. I feel that it will be a crazy journey.
Looking for flamingos in Cyprus – budget Aruba
Since I have seen a movie from Aruba with flamingos walking around tourists, I promised myself to see those charming pink birds closely.
Concededly I’m not going to visit Aruba, but in February I will have a big opportunity to find flamingos in Cyprus. In the winter season, the Salt Lake in Larnaca is a great spot to observe many flamingos. I hope to see them there.
Rooftop tour in St. Petersburg
Russia always was on our travel bucket list, but its large territory and cost of the visa, make that it wasn’t accessible for us .. to this very day. In accordance with the decision of the Government of the Russian Federation, citizens of 53 foreign countries may be granted a free e-visa to enter St. Petersburg. So we’ve taken advantage of an opportunity to visit it.
Did you hear about the interesting way of exploring St. Petersburg by rooftops? Supposedly the best views of the old capital of Russia are from the top. I will check it and describe it to you.
Infinity of Kazakhstan
A few days ago I’ve found out that UIA canceled our flight to Almaty. The airline ceased operating non-stop scheduled flights between Kyiv and Almaty. Our dream to see and feel the infinity of Kazakhstan was shattered. My heart was falling into pieces. We wanted to see the Big Almaty Lake, Charyn Canyon, Lake Kaindy or Altyn-Emel National Park. Unfortunately, we can’t find tickets on the close date and a similar price. But we don’t give up. If we don’t visit Kazakhstan in 2020, it will be next year.
La Tomatina: the Tomato Battle
La Tomatina is a festival that is held in the Valencian town of Buñol, in the East of Spain. In 2020 it will take place on the 26th of August – it’s a day of my husband’s B-Day. We are so curious why the tomato battle is so popular.
My husband loves Spain. So I decided to celebrate there his B-Day.
New Year’s resolutions
New Year’s resolutions are difficult. At the beginning of the year everyone tries to keep it, but later.. we forget about them. Do you know what I mean?
I don’t want to force myself to sth or think about my New Year’s resolutions as a ticking list. I just want to practice regularly pole dance and acrobatics. I hope to find more time to read books. Additionally, I want to give my family more time to spend it together. I don’t want to waste time on foolish things.
There is a long list of things I want to do. Often I say that I don’t have time for it. My husband always repeats me, that I have time, but I make the choice of what is most important for me just now. He is right.
And you? Have you made New Year’s resolutions?
